Before moving to Korea, I often went to the theater because I really love its magical atmosphere. However, when I arrived in Korea, my Korean wasn't sufficient at first to understand performances in Korean. Recently, I realized that I've progressed in learning the language enough to understand a play in Korean.

I began to wonder where to go to the theater in Korea. I had heard about the National Theater of Korea, but they mainly have difficult plays there, and I wanted to start my journey with Korean theater with something lighter. While searching for other theaters, I discovered the Daehak-ro area near the Hyehwa station (Line 4). It turns out that there are about 150 theaters and concert halls on one street here, catering to every taste from small independent troupes to large theaters!

I decided to see a comedy about two neighbors whose relationship began with a conflict but ended with the characters falling in love and moving in together. Although I didn't understand everything completely, I absolutely loved the play and had a great time!

There are many restaurants and cafes near Daehak-ro street, making it a pleasant place to stroll and spend time after the performance. I've already planned to return here with friends!

Tickets for the performance can be purchased at the theater box offices or on websites. Luckily, I have a Korean phone number from Chingu Mobile registered to my ARC, which can be used to verify accounts on Korean websites, so I bought tickets online. I recommend you do the same!
