Traveling to Korea in July – Rainy Season & What You Need to Know!

I just got back from a trip to Korea in early July, and what surprised me the most was… it rained almost every day! This is the monsoon season (장마 – Jangma) in Korea, usually lasting from late June to mid-July. It doesn’t always pour heavily, but the rain can be constant throughout the day, which makes traveling a bit tricky if you're not well prepared.

From my experience, make sure to bring an umbrella, a light raincoat, and waterproof shoes. If you don’t want your feet soaked after a day out, Crocs or waterproof sandals are total lifesavers.

But don’t worry—the rain didn’t ruin my trip at all! I ended up exploring cozy cafes in Hongdae, visiting museums, and even enjoyed the rain at Gyeongbokgung Palace—it was such a peaceful vibe.

Pro tip: Pack an extra set of clothes in your bag if you’ll be out all day, as it’s hard to dry things quickly in humid weather. And always check the forecast in the morning so you can plan your day accordingly!
