Lately the weather has been getting hotter. Just stepping outside feels like being cooked alive.

Now that it’s the sambok period, the most humid and exhausting time of summer, it’s really easy to feel weak or get sick if you’re not careful.

I’ve been eating a lot of cold things lately, like iced drinks and ice cream. It feels great in the moment, but my stomach started acting up, and I’ve heard the same from other people too. Cold food is fine once in a while, but having too much can mess with your digestion and make you feel worse, not better.

The same goes for air conditioning. I totally get wanting to blast it, but don’t let it blow directly on you, especially while sleeping. I’ve been waking up with a sore throat and a headache more than once. Try to keep a thin blanket over your stomach and let some fresh air in when you can.

Honestly, I’ve been coughing for weeks now, and part of it is probably from pushing myself too hard to cool down. Thought I could handle it, turns out my body disagreed.

So just a reminder to stay cool, but don’t overdo it. Warm drinks, light meals, and a little sweat are actually good for your body during this time. Take care of yourself, and if you’ve got any good summer health tips, feel free to share them.
