Seoul summers can be hot and humid, but there are still plenty of ways to have fun while staying cool.

1. Visit the Han River in the Evening
The Han River parks, such as Yeouido or Ttukseom, are perfect for late afternoon or evening outings. You can rent bikes, relax under shaded areas, or even have food delivered directly to your picnic spot. Many locals head there after sunset to enjoy the breeze and escape the city heat.

2. Cool Off at Water Parks and Pools
Escape the heat with a trip to a water park like Caribbean Bay, One Mount, or Seoul's outdoor public pools such as Jamsil or Ttukseom Swimming Pool. These usually open in July and are a fun way to spend a weekend.

3. Try Refreshing Korean Summer Treats
One of the best ways to cool down is through food. Patbingsu, a shaved ice dessert topped with red beans, fruit, or condensed milk, is a popular summer choice. Convenience stores also sell a variety of affordable and refreshing ice creams that are great for a quick cool-down.

4. Stay Indoors During Peak Heat
During the hottest hours of the day, consider indoor activities. Explore Seoul’s many air-conditioned museums, like the National Museum of Korea or the Leeum Art Museum. Underground shopping malls such as COEX or the Express Bus Terminal are great for browsing shops, eating, and escaping the sun. Cafés, especially themed or book cafés, offer a cozy retreat.

5. Enjoy Nightlife and Evening Activities
When the sun goes down, the city cools off and comes alive. Visit rooftop bars in Itaewon or Hongdae, explore traditional markets like Gwangjang at night, or head to Namsan Tower for panoramic views of the city after dark.

6. General Tips
Always stay hydrated, wear breathable and light-colored clothing, and carry a portable fan or cooling wipes. Most locals also use parasols or hats for extra sun protection.
