Ice cream companies are speeding up their overseas expansion. This is because the demand for Korean ice cream in the U.S., Southeast Asia, and Europe is rapidly increasing as global interest in K-food increases. The ice cream industry is implementing aggressive overseas business strategies by expanding local production lines, strengthening distribution channels.

According to the Korea Customs Service on the 1st, exports of ice cream in Korea rose 5% year-on-year to $98.41 million last year. It is the highest performance ever. Imports increased 14% to $68.91 million during the same period, but exports increased further, resulting in a trade surplus of $29.49 million. The trade surplus increased 33% from $22.11 million in 2022. Exports amount to about 380 million on the basis of 75 grams per unit.

 

In particular, Binggrae established a firm position in the U.S. market with "Melona" at the forefront. Melona is located in all Costco stores in the U.S., accounting for about 70% of the Korean ice cream market. Last year, Binggrae's U.S. subsidiary sales grew 35% year-on-year to 80.4 billion won.
