Seollal (설날), also known as the Lunar New Year, is one of the most important traditional holidays in Korea. It typically falls on the first day of the lunar calendar, which usually corresponds to late January or early February.

For Seollal, there is a public holiday in South Korea, which is usually observed for three days:

1.The Day before Seollal - This day is often a half-day off or a full day off for many people as they prepare for the holiday.

2.Seollal (Lunar New Year's Day) - This is the main day of celebration, and it is a public holiday. It involves various traditional rituals such as performing a charye (ancestor ritual), wearing hanbok (traditional clothing), playing traditional games, and eating special foods like tteokguk (rice cake soup).

3.The Day after Seollal - This is another public holiday to allow people to visit relatives and continue celebrations.

The exact dates for Seollal vary each year because the lunar calendar is used to determine the day. For 2025, Seollal will fall on January 29th. The holiday period will likely be from January 28th (the day before Seollal) to January 30th (the day after Seollal).

Note that government offices, businesses, and schools often close during this time, but major stores and some public services may remain open.
