I spent the end of the year in Seoul, and the entire city was filled with a strong festive atmosphere. The shops along the streets all hung up colorful lights and decorations. Popular shopping districts such as Myeongdong, Hongdae and Dongdaemun were crowded with people, who were shopping for gifts or having gatherings with friends before the New Year's Eve. The night view of the Han River was particularly charming, and the Namsan Tower shone brightly under the light. Many couples came together to make New Year's wishes. On the night of December 31st, the Cheonggyecheon Stream held a New Year countdown event. With music performances and a spectacular light show, citizens and tourists gathered together to welcome the arrival of the new year. Cafes and restaurants also offered limited sets and special arrangements to create a warm and romantic atmosphere. The cold weather did not dampen people's enthusiasm; instead, the hot street snacks - such as sugar cakes, roasted chestnuts and Korean spicy stir-fried rice cakes - became even more enticing. This year-end trip not only allowed me to experience the modern vitality of the Korean city, but also to experience the unique way locals welcome the new year, which was truly impressive.
