Shopping in Korea? Don’t forget to claim your tax refund! As a tourist, you can get up to 10% VAT back on eligible purchases—easy savings for more shopping! Here’s how it works 👇

🔹 1. Instant Tax Refund (In-Store)
At stores with a “Tax Free” logo, if you spend between ₩30,000 and ₩500,000 in a single transaction, you can get your tax refunded right at the checkout.
📌 Just show your passport, and the tax will be deducted on the spot—super convenient!

🔹 2. Airport Tax Refund (Traditional Method)
If the store gives you a tax refund form and receipt instead, hold on to them. You can claim your refund at the airport when you leave Korea.

🛫 Gimpo, Gimhae, Jeju, and other airports also offer refund services

📌 Arrive at least 2 hours early—lines can be long during peak travel times!

🔹 3. What’s Eligible for Refund?
✅ Most goods like cosmetics, clothes, accessories, snacks, and stationery
❌ Services, used items, and food you’ve already consumed are not eligible

🔹 4. Major Refund Operators

  • Global Blue

  • Easy Tax Free

  • KT Tourist Refund

Refunds are usually made in Korean won, either in cash (on the spot) or refunded to your credit card. Keep in mind: cash refunds may be slightly less due to handling fees.

👜 Pro tip: Don’t leave money on the table—take a few minutes to claim your refund and treat yourself to an extra k-beauty item or snack!
