7/20 marks Chobok (초복) – the first of the three hottest days in the Korean summer, according to the lunar calendar. It’s part of a traditional period called Sambok (삼복), which includes Chobok (초복), Jungbok (중복), and Malbok (말복).

On Chobok, many Koreans eat Samgyetang (삼계탕) – a nourishing ginseng chicken soup – to fight off fatigue and heat with hot, healthy food. It might sound strange to eat hot soup on a hot day, but it's all about balancing your body's energy and boosting stamina!

If you’re in Korea, it’s the perfect day to try some traditional Korean health food. Stay cool, stay strong, and enjoy the summer vibes!
