The flu situation in South Korea has become a significant concern recently. The prevalence of the illness is evident in everyday life, especially in public spaces. For instance, every time I take the subway, I can hear people around me coughing or sneezing, which serves as a constant reminder of how widespread the flu has become.
Just a few days ago, one of my colleagues fell ill with symptoms that are typical of the flu. We had only a brief conversation, but since then, I have been experiencing an itchy and uncomfortable throat for several days. This experience highlights how easily the flu can spread in close quarters, even through short interactions.
In addition to personal experiences, many reports indicate that hospitals and clinics across the country are seeing a surge in patients seeking treatment for flu-like symptoms. Schools and workplaces have also taken measures to prevent further outbreaks, such as encouraging employees and students to stay home if they feel unwell and providing hand sanitizers and masks in common areas.
The government and health authorities have issued advisories recommending preventive measures like frequent handwashing, wearing masks in crowded places, and getting flu vaccinations. Despite these efforts, the number of cases continues to rise, making it crucial for everyone to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from the flu.
