In a city known for its café culture, you might not expect to find the perfect cup of coffee by walking down a narrow, hidden alley. But you should definitely visit Coffee Hanyakbang in the Euljiro area of Seoul, even though it’s not easy to see from the street.

Inside the café, you’ll find a mix of Chinese and Korean designs, with Chinese antiques brought in by the owners on display. The overall atmosphere is rustic, with a menu made from an old piece of wood and a large hole in the ceiling showing the pipes above.

Hanyakbang is popular with coffee lovers for its great single-origin, hand-drip coffee at good prices. The beans are roasted by hand in the back of the café and ground right there, filling the air with a fresh, rich smell as soon as you walk in.
